6 Natural Wonders That You Have To See To Believe

Lately, it seems that everyone is obsessed with wonders that are man-made and technology. Urbanisation is changing everything so it is incredibly easy to forget about natural wonders. The world is filled with natural wonders that you absolutely need to see to believe. So many can be mentioned but we will present only some that few know about.

Marieta Islands Hidden Beach – Mexico

This beach can only be described as being gorgeous. It is romantic and wild at the same time, a tremendous getaway for every single couple out there. Golden sands are obviously present and the water is crystal blue, with great visibility. The Hidden Beach is basically a secret swimming hole you can only access through kayaking or swimming. The beach appeared through the effects of military bomb tests carried out during the 1900s. This led to the appearance of totally unusual rock formations all throughout Marieta Islands.

Lauterbrunnen Valley – Switzerland

When you look at pictures nobody can blame you if you think everything is created with computer animation. You can find over 70 waterfalls in the valley, including the beautiful Staubbach Falls, a thirty meters high waterfall. You can also see Alpine meadows, some sheer cliff faces, mountain peaks that are dizzying and glaciers that are constantly slowly moving. Various great travel activities are available like rock climbing, paragliding, hiking, mountaineering, skiing, skydiving, dog-sledding and mountain biking.

Lake Baikal – Siberia, Russia

You may already know about Lake Baikal since it is the largest freshwater lake in the entire world. It covers hundreds of kilometers with incredible statistics (636 km long and 79 km wide). This lake has more water than all of the North America Great Lakes combined and the depth is simply incredible, 1642 meters. Even the age of the lake is incredible, 25 million years. Hiking is normally the preferred activity since the water is quite cold.

Plitvice Lakes National Park – Croatia

You can visit 16 terraced lakes that all have sparkling clear water and simply flow from one to the next. Everything is picturesque, located in the largest of Croatia’s national parks. Wooden footbridges and walkways allow easy access without disturbing the panorama. This natural wonder is among the most popular in Europe and once you get there it is really easy to understand why.

You will not be allowed to swim in the water. However, there are park boats that offer tours, giving you unique perspectives on waterfalls and lakes. Make sure that you see the Veliki Slap since it is the tallest of the country’s waterfalls, standing at 78 meters high.

Mendenhall Ice Caves – Alaska, USA

The ice caves here are incredible as they offer a unique perspective. You can see what is present under a glacier. Everything is so much more beautiful than what people imagine. The problem is that global warming is affecting the area. The current retreating rate is way too high. You will need to kayak and hike in order to reach the caves. This means that you will need to employ the services of an experienced guide. However, once you get there, you will not regret your decision.

Pamukkale – Turkey

Last but not least, many tourists visit this location. It is surely the most trafficked of all the natural wonders that you see on this list. A way to get rid of all the people is to stay at a terrace and then visit early in the morning. Speaking about the actual wonder, the terraces here were formed through carbonate mineral build up from warm water that was flowing through thermal springs. On the mineral springs site the Greco-Romans built Hierapolis. The construction lasted over 1,000 years. You can visit the ruins, the springs and everything that makes this location so special.
