Stockholm is the most popular city for tourists travelling to Sweden. We are referring to a destination that did understand the importance of making investments in tourism. Because of this, there are so many different opportunities that appeared in the past few years. If you are looking for something extreme, the opportunities that are mentioned below have to always be considered for an extreme vacation in Stockholm.

Langholmen Prison Island Visit

Langholmen Prison Island Visit

We will start with something that is not as extreme as other options but a simple look at the former prison building in Langholmen will give you some chills. Langholmen was basically a prison island, one that was really feared. However, now you will surely feel completely safe. The museum at the prison does need to be considered if you want to learn more about the region but for many visitors, the main attraction is the beaches available.

Stockholm Rooftop Tours

This is something that will sound unusual for many but it is an activity that is incredibly awesome. We can only describe it like this. The activity is basically unique in the continent and you will wear climbing gear. The tour starts on a rooftop that has a good Gamla Stan view. Your adventure will take you to various rooftos, with a cable going through your harness.

Most people think that the walk is not that exciting but once you get there, you figure out that the rooftop is really narrow. The steep roofs will make everything really exciting. Many pauses are included in the tours as the guide will talk about what you see. A maximum of 10 people will be accommodated at one time. Because of this, you will want to book ahead.

Exploring The Archipelago

Exploring The Archipelago

The Archipelago is located only some miles away from Stockholm. It covers 140 kilometers and is made out of an impressive 30,000 islands, skerries and islets. There are different islands that are isolated but some do have restaurants and hotels. Besides staying at a hotel, you can also stay at one of the lovely hostels. Advance reservation is normally necessary.

Once in the Archipelago, various activities are available for tourists. You can hike on various market trails, you can rent a kayak to explore the area, visit museums, theaters, TV series locations or hire bicycles. Some will even spend a lot of time bathing in the sun. If you feel particularly adventurous, you want to go to Huvudskar, Svartloga or Bullero.

Swimming At Saltsjobadens Friluftsbad

Saltsjobadens Friluftsbad is a great open-air spa and bath house that is found in Saltsjobaden suburb. The building itself is quite an attraction because of the design that it features and the location is now available for tourists during summers. 2 bath houses exist and we recommend the upstairs bath since they will take full advantage of a wonderful and large sun deck.

Wildlife Safari

Wildlife Safari

Available during summers and allowing you to see the wild side of Stockholm, a wildlife safari can be quite surprising. You will be able to visit some wonderful forests and you will surely love the wild animals that you see there. This does include wild pigs, deer and moose. Tours are normally small and you will be taken from a specific location that is discussed with the tour operator. Although binoculars are normally offered, you still want to have a pair with you, just in case.
