Before deciding the best departing point, you need to keep in mind that the trail gains elevation from east to west.

Since along the trail there are no buildings or human settlements, most tourists opt for sleeping in a tent during the night. The most adventurous ones love to sleep under the open sky to feel even more connected with nature.

Winter months are great for dog sledding adventures from Sisimiut or Kangerlussuaq or for other winter activities, such as cross-country skiing or snowmobiling.
