Taos is known as a really important arts town in New Mexico but that does not mean that this is the only activity you can enjoy. In fact, there are some pretty interesting skiing options that you can take advantage of. World-class skiing is waiting for you and tourists can easily consider the following
Downhill Skiing
Taos is close to 5 alpine resorts. All of them give you access to complete facilities. You can rent skiing equipment and buy clothing if you do not have it. Keep in mind that both closing and opening dates tend to vary since snow conditions dictate this but you can expect so much high quality downhill skiing at all of them.
Experienced snowboarders and downhill skiers should consider Taos Ski Valley due to the steep, high-adventure, high-alpine skiing. Mountains are quite intricate and various challenges and surprises are available for experts. 72 bowls and trails are currently available with over 50% of them being perfect for advanced and expert skiers. The rest of the trails will be great for intermediate skiers. Not many options are available for those that are beginners. If you are a beginner, you may want to go to Kachina Bowl.
Cross Country Skiing
Various Nordic trails can be found in the Carson National Forest. Make sure that you ask ahead of time since you will want to know about the trails in the region. The really popular one is Amole Canyon. Snowmobiles are not present and serenity is at home there.
Taos is also close to Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski Area. You can buy full day passes there and sledding is also possible if you are traveling with children. Lessons can be arranged in the event that you want them and so many interesting accommodation options are available.
Kids Skiing
Taos Sky Valley does offer options for those that travel with kids. There is a very good children ski school that is available and in the year 1994 we had an addition of over 18,000 square feet just for children. The Kinderkafig Center gives you access to so many services, including children equipment rental and even babysitting services.
