Gettysburg National Military Park
Do not let the name fool you. This is a great camping location, one that is historic. This is where Lincoln made the famous address. Weekend programs for entire families are almost always available.

The Poconos Mountains

What is really interesting here is that there are so many interesting and beautiful places that can be visited. For instance, the Wildflower Reserve features around 700 plant species.
Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground
This is definitely a true hidden gem in the state. The campground is one of the best that you will experience. This is true not only for Pennsylvania. It is hard to find a better camping experience. There are many accommodation choices that are available, including tent sites, cabins and RV spots. The guests will be able to barbeque on many standing grills, play shuffleboard, go fishing and much more. You can even go cruse the Pine Cradle Lake as there are boat rentals offered.
Greenwood Furnace State Park
You can find this park in the middle of the huge Rothrock State Forest, in the middle of Pennsylvania. This is a wonderful mountain retreat that offers so many interesting recreational opportunities. If you can, try to visit during August’s Old Home Days Heritage Festival. It is tremendous with various interactive events, presentations and demonstrations. You can stay at one of the 50 wooden campground sites. Fishing and swimming are highly recommended here.
