Four of the best places to see in The Rocky Mountains
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
There are literally hundreds of ski resorts located across the Rockies, but one of the most challenging is located in Wyoming’s Jackson Hole Valley. The Jackson Hole Mountain Resort offers a mix of world-class skiing, limited lines, and beautiful ski runs like Corbet’s Couloir. Routinely ranked near the top of the best ski resorts in the Rockies, Jackson Hole is also home to a stunning backcountry, a mouthwatering local cuisine, and a rollicking, multi-million dollar Tram system.
Park City
A popular tourist destination just down the road from Salt Lake City, there are more reasons to check out Park City than can be noted here. Known as one of the most idyllic small towns west of the Mississippi, Park City is home to the Sundance Film Festival, a number of luxury restaurants and retailers, numerous golf courses, and three major ski resorts.
While the focus of Park City is definitely on enjoying the finer things in life, the outdoors are enough to lure even the most cautious of city-dwellers. With three nearby reservoirs, boating in Park City has become a particular favorite of both locals and tourists. From power boats to sail boats, and water skis to kayaks, the cool waters are simply too enticing to pass up.
Glacier National Park
Boasting lush forests, spectacular mountain peaks, and crystal clear lakes, it is no wonder why Glacier National Park in Montana has been called the “Crown of the Continental Ecosystem.” Established in 1910, Glacier National Park currently covers over 16,000 square-miles of pristine wilderness. The World Heritage Site is home to 700 miles of hiking trails and a diverse, isolated ecosystem that includes some of the finest fly fishing in the country.
There are many other national parks in the rocky mountains that you can go and visit year round that will an experience unlike any other. While your in the area you could even swing by Yellowstone or even the Tetons, any of these parks are family friendly and you will love and enjoy your time in these parks.
Stanley Hotel
The hotel that inspired Stephen King’s The Shining, the Stanley Hotel offers guests a mix of history, beauty, and pop culture significance. Located next to Rocky Mountain National Park, in the years since the Stanley was first opened in 1909, it has become known as much for its ghostly guests as its Georgian architecture.
As you can tell there are many great places to visit in the Rocky Mountains and you can easily plan a trip to any of them year round. I hope that you can enjoy some of these areas with your family and create some memories that will last forever!
