Chapman Reservoir Campground

Buffalo Pass
Buffalo Pass is a Colorado historic route that in the past was the main route that led to Walden. Most of the two wheel cars will be able to easily camp in the area but if you go further than Steamboat-side, you will want to have a 4X4.
Hand powered watercrafts and fishing are allowed on the Summit Lake. If you only want fishing, you can also consider the Yampa River. Driving an off-road vehicle is allowed almost everywhere. During the main summer months, the Dry Lake Campground and the dispersed campsites will fill up really fast. Make sure that you claim your spot earlier.
Cottonwood Pass
The pass is really close to Cottonwood Hot Springs and Buena Vista. There are many free camping options that are available and you can easily camp without any problems in an area that is quite scenic. Near Buena Vista you will only find one campground but there are so many others available near the Taylor Park Reservoir. At the Taylor Park Marina you can rent a boat or shop. The activities that you can enjoy include fishing, boating, biking, horseback riding and hiking. If you’re looking for a more thrilling adventure, you can find some great Colorado whitewater rafting just a few hours up the road at the Royal Gorge. At peak season, you can expect some gnarly Class 5 rapids and breathtaking views of the Royal Gorge.
