Ireland has many different tent camping sites that are great. If you want to experience the country the nomadic way, you will want to know what the best ones are.
Because of the fact that there are so many that you can visit, it is hard to create the list of the best camping sites. We say this as you may have different wishes and needs that need to be fulfilled. That’s why we will offer you a list of some of the best tent camping sites in Ireland based on different needs that the tourist may have. Location is always important but so are the conditions offered.
Clogher Valley Country Park – Tyrone
This is great for a longer stay with many tourists spending more than a couple of nights here. Those that want to do so can even live on the site an entire year. However, in this case the costs are quite high with €75,000 for a 2 bed park home and €7,500 for a static pitch. A regular pitch is €15 for a hiker/cyclist and €25 for a van. If you are staying at the tent camping site, make sure to visit Fardross Forest and Fermanagh Lake as they are close-by. The camp is currently opened for any person interested with a camper van, caravan or tent. More details on the official website.
Pure Camping – Co Clare
Pure Camping is a tremendous Ireland spot for relaxation. Here you can easily get rid of all the worries you may have. You can even enjoy yoga classes if you want to. This location is an eco-campsite and one thing that you may love or hate is that there is no electrical hook-up (Trea from Pure Camping informed us that they now have electrical hook-up available). You have wood available for a campfire, a clay oven, you can bring your own tent, rent a bell tent or even have your tent set up in the woods. The prices are highly affordable.
Mannix Point – Kerry
The best thing about Mannix Point is its location. This is one of the best tent camping sites in Ireland if you are looking for great scenery. The Cahirciveen coastline is superb and the Iveragh Peninsula mountains will perfectly complement the landscape. Everywhere you look you will see something beautiful. Check out the website for potential special discounts as they run from time to time. Also, make sure that you check out the kitchen since sometimes you end up faced with an impromptu music session you will love. Prices are very good.
Clifden Eco Beach Camping & Caravanning Park – Galway
Just as the name implies, this tent camping site is perfect for those that love the sea. Look at the site for some pictures so you know what to expect. The site is set on a beach that is private and that is close to Omey Island. This is an eco-campsite and the set up is low density. You will particularly love the view at night and the coastal breeze during the summer will make your stay enjoyable.
Morriscastle Strand Holiday Park – Co Wexford
This is a great tent camping site if you plan to visit with your family. It is close to the beach and you can also enjoy a playground, a summer children camp, a brand new restaurant, an astro-turf pitch and even a basketball court. Make sure to visit Lawler’s Shop since it has some great food on sale and is just 5 minutes away. More on morriscastlestrand.com.
