Birdwatching In Camargue – What Should You Know?

Camargue is located on the Mediterranean cost, in two French regions: Languedoc and Alpes Cote d’Azur. The closest nearby attractions are Arles and Nimes and most tourists will visit through the airports in Marseile and Nimes. While there are many different attractions that can be enjoyed by tourists in the area, birdwatching is really popular since there are over 400 species that are identified by BirdLife International. Camargue is a distinctive area of France, with dramatic mountain landscapes and a wide selection of outdoor activities you can enjoy. Birdwatching enthusiasts will feel at home and will love to spend a lot of time there.

Camargue Natural Park

Birdwatching In Camargue

The Camargue Natural Park is a UNESCO biosphere reserve. You can visit it at any point in time but we highly recommend a visit during Autumn or Spring. That is when the wetlands of the park are a main staging point for literally hundreds of thousands of birds that are migrating. The Camargue will attract birdwatches from Europe and from other continents.

Visitors will really love to admire the wildlife, mainly the pink flamingos. You will need to visit the Camargue ornithological park for the best possible experiences. This is a bird park located north of Saintes Marie de la Mer. There is also a bird hospital that you will appreciate.
