These long-tail boats can be rented for a day and they are perfect for those who prefer to explore on their own and have a personalized experience. However, if you want to reach certain snorkeling sites in Koh Tao, you’ll have to take a trip with a big boat that offers more stability and you will be able to explore more snorkeling sites. Some operators offer meals and other things you will be needing during the day.

There are numerous fish species that can be admired in this snorkeling location however, the best place to go snorkeling is near Mango Bay Resort where fish throb in a large vortex that can be seen from the surface.

Haad Sai Daen

Haad Sai Daeng is an idyllic destination on the island and it is the place where tourists can admire sharks during their snorkeling expeditions. The sharks are quite shy so you have to be patient if you want to see them but we think Haad Sai Daeng deserves a visit.

Ao Thian Ok

Ao Thian Ok, or the Shark Bay as it is known locally, is another place where tourists can spot sharks. There are more sharks here than in Haad Sai Daeng but patience is still required since the sharks are very shy as we already mentioned.

The Japanese Gardens are perfect for both snorkeling and diving and are accessible by water only. Renting a long-tail boat is probably the best way to reach the snorkeling and diving sites but be sure to avoid the no boat zone.

Ao Leuk is another popular snorkeling spot for those who visit Koh Tao. If you need a break from your snorkeling trip, there are plenty of restaurants where you can rest or enjoy some local food.
