The US biking season is quite long and there are many interesting destinations that can be considered. We often present wonderful biking spots in various parts of the country but what are the best biking spots in the US? This is quite difficult to assess but we did think about the popularity of the locations and came up with some great options that can be considered by biking enthusiasts.

San Juan Islands, Washington

San Juan Islands, Washington

Washington is seen as the top destination in USA for those that enjoy biking. During summers, San Juan Islands bring in a biking experience that is really hard to top. That is especially true when referring to Emerald Isle. Orcas is the largest island in the local archipelago, offering a total of 57 miles of cycling trails that bisect fields and forests. Experienced bikers should experience the 12 degrees 5 mile route that takes them to the top of Mount Constitution. It is the highest of San Juan’s points and offers great views of snow capped Mount Baker.

Palisade, Colorado

Palisade, Colorado

Palisade is a small city that is right in the middle of a well-known peach growing region and now we see a lot of growth in wine making. The city now hosts Fruit And Wine Byway. This is a 25 miles long biking route that is right at the base of the Grand Mesa, together with the Book Cliffs sandstone cliffs. Cyclists and motorists get the opportunity of visiting many scenic backcountry roads that lead towards around 50 farms, vineyards, fruit stands and orchards. Shorter and longer routes are available. Just choose what is best according to your personal desires.

Travelers First, South Carolina

Travelers First is a really small town that is located in South Carolina. It is a great destination for American biking enthusiasts. The popularity of the region skyrocketed in the year 2013 as George Hincapie, a professional biker that participated 17 times in Tour De France, opened Hotel Domestique. It is a great boutique hotel that perfectly caters for the needs of bikers and that is a great starting point for those that want to experience Blue Ridge Mountains’ winding roads.

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Santa Fe is known as a destination that is a heaven for writers and artists. Few know that it is also perfect for those that want to enjoy mountain biking. Santa Fe is located at the Sangre De Cristo Mountains’ base. It is a really vibrant town that brings in outdoor adventure and quite an unexpected urban sophistication that includes dining, shopping and galleries. The area is really popular for biking and there are many maps that you can get for free in the area. Make sure that you visit as much as you can about the near-by Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway as it is simply beautiful.

Moab, Utah

Moab, Utah

When thinking about mountain biking in the US, this is definitely the most famous trail. Many argue that this is the best location in the entire world. It is accessible right outside Moab, commonly referred to as Slickrock. The name is deceiving though since the trail is quite difficult to tackle, featuring various hair raising descents and steep inclines. The scenery is beautiful with wonderful Utah viewpoints and a panorama that ranges from La Sal Mountains to the Colorado River.
