Birdwatching In Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, India

The Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is a very interesting mangrove habitat that is seen as a bird sanctuary, known all around India and in many parts of the world. Its location is the Chorao Island, on the Western tip, along Mandovi River in Goa. The name of the sanctuary is taken from Salim Ali, a world renowned Indian ornithologist.

In order to access both the island and the bird sanctuary you will need to be on a ferry that runs between Chorao and Ribander. There is a paved walk that will run between Avicennia officinalis, Rhizophora mucronata and many other species of mangroves.
